Araxos Airport

During the summer time araxos airport it serves a few civilian flights from northern Europe. It is accessed next to the road south for E55. The airport code is GPA or less common LGRX. LGRX is the NATO designated code for the airport. The airport is located nearly 1 km east of the centre.

The construction of Araxos airport bagan In the 1960s as a military airport. The 116 Combat was established in the area, which in turn, hosted the NATO 345 Air Munitions Company. The runway length is 4 km and is run south to north. Araxos airport is the closest airport to the city of Patras.

Access to the Airport of Araxos is very easy and it can be done by car, taxi and buses from the bus station in Patras and from the airport to the bus station in Patras.

The Airport Araxos is located 40Km southwest of the city of Patras and 85Km north of Ancient Olympia.

- Local busses outside the airport. A trip into Patras city takes about 30 minutes.

Special bus transfer for Ryanair flights. There is a special bus service from Patras, which serves only flights of Ryanair, which arrives to the airport two and a half to three hours before the flight and from airport to Patras, half an hour to 45 minutes after the arrival of Ryanair’s flight. The fare is 4 euro (one way).

 

Kalamata Airport

Kalamata International Airport (IATA: KLX, ICAO: LGKL) "Captain Vassilis Constantakopoulos" is an airport in the city of Kalamata, Greece. It mainly receives charter flights during the summer. On March 2013, Aegean Airlines opened a base in the airport.

The airport is located between Kalamata and Messini on GR-82 (Pylos – Kalamata – Sparta) and west of the train tracks on the Pamisos River plain. It is located 10Km west of the city of Kalamata and 105Km south of Ancient Olympia. The runway is about 2.7 km long and runs from north to south from the highway north to the plain. The terminal lies to the east and is accessed with GR-7/E55/E65 (Kalamata – Tripoli – Corinth).

There are only basic facilities at Kalamata airport including an ATM, a cafe, and two small shops which contain small gifts and local souvenirs.

- There is a bus stop located right outside of the airport, which has regular buses to Kalamata, but other destinations may be difficult to get to and require that you hire a taxi. If possible, try to book your taxi before you land. Most drivers will be happy to stand outside with a sign with your name on it awaiting your arrival. This can end up saving you a lot of stress and time during peak hours where there is a lot of competition to get a taxi.
